Here are some of the ways MABA is working to serve you!

  • Biosolids Advocacy:
    • MABA works to identify, advocate, and respond to legislation and regulations that affect wastewater treatment and biosolids sector in the region.
    • MABA continues to address PA DEP proposed general permit changes, through a variety of activities, including the submission of a position statement concerning PFAS.
  • Biosolids in the News:
    • MABA recently issued a press release addressing public and political PFA questions.
    • MABA leadership encourages an open dialogue with the media and has been featured in local publications.
    • MABA continues to address public concerns about biosolids issues and will partner with a regional press association to offer complimentary webinars related to wastewater treatment and biosolids outcomes in the region to news organizations.
  • Education & Networking Opportunities:
    • MABA hosts regular webinars covering current wastewater treatment and biosolids-related topics.
    • MABA hosts a Summer Symposium that covers a wide range of technical topics and networking opportunities.
    • MABA members receive deep discounts on registration for these technical trainings and networking opportunities.
  • Biosolids Communications & Research:
    • MABA researches and compiles news articles related to wastewater treatment and biosolids in the region and across the country to create and share the monthly Biosolids NewsClips email with members.
    • MABA emails monthly research from Sally Brown at the University of Washington to members.
    • MABA members have access to the members-only section of the MABA website that includes a wealth of technical information.
    • MABA shares information from across the biosolids sector regularly via email, social media, and the MABA website.
  • Leadership & Staff:
    • MABA has hired a full-time Executive Director, who is working to help MABA to offer members an increased menu of services and serves as the key contact for MABA members for information and support.
    • MABA’s board and committee leadership have started into motion great new changes for the association, including the creation of the Biosolids Advocacy Fund, and they are committed to continued focus and growth.
    • MABA’s leadership is interested in working with MABA members, and hearing the voices of the members in committee work and on the board. All members are encouraged to consider participating on a MABA committee or the MABA Board.
